Vibe coding assumes you are not a developer and have no intention of reading what the AI produces.
In practice, current vibe coding tools — Cursor with Claude, Replit Agent, Bolt.new, Lovable — work remarkably well for:
- Single-purpose utilities (calculators, trackers, converters)
- Simple CRUD applications with a database and basic UI
- Scripts and automation tools with well-defined inputs and outputs
- Prototypes that would take a developer a day to write from scratch
They work less well for:
- Applications with complex state management
- Anything requiring integration with multiple third-party APIs
- Security-sensitive applications where the generated code is not reviewed
- Applications that need to handle edge cases the user did not think to describe
The Samsung announcement is about bringing this to a phone, which adds another layer of constraint: on-device compute, mobile UI generation, and integration with the phone's own APIs and sensors.

More broadly, the smartphone software experience has been largely static for a decade. Samsung has also been investing in Galaxy AI as a platform, not just a feature set. Bixby has largely failed to become a platform-level product. Galaxy AI, positioned around summarisation, translation, and editing tools, has had better traction. A vibe coding capability would be the most ambitious Galaxy AI feature announced to date.
What This Means for Mobile Developers
The reaction among professional mobile developers has been mixed, and the concerns are legitimate.
The security question is serious. An app generated by AI and run directly on a user's phone — without review, without security audit, without app store validation — introduces real risk. App stores exist partly to filter out malicious or broken software. Sideloaded AI-generated apps bypass this entirely. Samsung would need to implement sandboxing strict enough to prevent generated apps from accessing contacts, photos, location, or financial data in unintended ways.
The maintenance question is unresolved. A vibe-coded app is a black box even to the person who created it. If it breaks after an OS update, the user cannot fix it — they have to re-generate it and hope the new version does the same thing. There is no version history, no bug reports, no documentation. This works fine for a personal calculator. It is less acceptable for anything that stores data the user cares about.
The opportunity is real for developers who adapt. If Samsung ships this and it works, the category of people who can create functional software expands dramatically. Developers who build tools, templates, and components that vibe coding systems can compose from — rather than building complete apps — position themselves well in this ecosystem. The analogy is WordPress themes: even in a world where non-developers can build websites, developers who build quality themes and plugins still have a thriving market.
India's Angle: 500 Million Galaxy Users and a Developer Economy
India is one of Samsung's largest markets globally, with hundreds of millions of Galaxy devices in active use. India also has the world's largest population of software developers — over 5 million, with more graduating each year.
For Indian users outside the tech industry, a vibe coding tool could mean the difference between having a custom solution for a problem and not having one. For Indian developers, the more interesting question is what opportunities emerge if Samsung's platform becomes a distribution channel.
